Nokia Aims To Grow In India, Japan And US Networks Markets

Nokia had introduced four new smartphones yesterday, while the company also announced that Withings’ products will be re-branded starting this summer. Nokia announced the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and the all-new Nokia 3310 during their press conference, and they basically announced that all of those smartphones will be globally available starting in the second quarter of this year. That being said, it seems like Nokia is looking to expand in the network department as well, read on.

Nokia just announced a series of contracts with various telecom operators. The company’s CEO, Rajeev Suri, also said that the company expected a new wave of industry consolidation when it comes to telecom operators in the US and Indian markets. This is expected to happen throughout this year, at least according to Nokia. The company says that they see great growth opportunities in some specific markets, in North America, Japan and India. The company actually expected the global networks market to fall about 2 percent this year, but it seems like that won’t happen after all, though it remains to be seen, of course. Nokia says that investments in 4G will help them grow in some markets, especially in Japan, which is one of their key markets at the moment, and will focus on expanding there.

Now, Nokia has agreed to cooperate with Telefonica on a 3-year deal, and build networks in London, which also makes Nokia the leading network supplier in Britain, as the company managed to trump Ericsson thanks to this deal, at least according to the company’s CEO. In addition to Telefonica, Nokia also announced that they’ll cooperate with a US-based carrier, Verizon, and also Intel, in order to supply equipment for pre-commercial 5G services in the US. These are some really exciting news for Nokia, as it seems like the company is growing, not only are they making strides in the network department, but the company is doing great as far as smartphone sales are concerned, though they’re still not selling their devices globally, so it remain to be seen what will happen once they become available outside of China in Q2 this year.
