Canadian wireless service provider Rogers confirmed it will soon start retailing the Really Blue variant of the Google Pixel. The device will be available on the company’s Share Everything plan and Rogers promised that pre-orders will open soon. The Toronto-based firm initially announced this offer during last night’s Grammy Awards when it aired a commercial saying that “Rogers and Google are brightening up the winter blues” this year. The minute-long ad can be seen below and stars the Really Blue variant of the Google Pixel XL in addition to Netflix, Spotify, and the Rogers NHL GameCentre LIVE service. Furthermore, the ad implies that both the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL will be available in this color. Finally, given how the video labels this variant of Google’s latest flagship duo as being available “exclusively at Rogers,” it seems unlikely that other wireless carriers in the country will be retailing the Really Blue Pixel or the Pixel XL anytime soon.
The Canadian carrier provided no other details on the matter, but MobileSyrup claims that more information on the company’s offer will follow by the end of the week. As things stand right now, Rogers will be selling the Really Blue Google Pixel and the Pixel XL in limited quantities. This variant of Google’s Android flagship proved to be extremely popular among consumers as it was sold out immediately after the Mountain View-based tech giant announced its 2016 smartphones in early October. The Google Pixel and the Pixel XL started retailing in Canada a few weeks after that announcement, but they were so far only available in Very Silver and Quiet Black.
Both the Google Pixel and the Pixel XL are powered by the Snapdragon 821 system-on-chip (SoC) and 4GB of RAM, in addition to sporting up to 128GB of internal storage, a 12.3-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front shooter. The smaller model is equipped with a 5-inch FullHD display, while the larger variant features a 5.5-inch QHD panel. The successors to the Nexus lineup are also the first phones the Alphabet-owned company is advertising as being “made by Google” and are running Android Nougat out of the box.
