The LG G6 is likely to come to market with a battery capacity of 3,300 mAh, according to information provided by “two sources” to 9to5 Google. This follows on from the earlier reports where an LG official was noted explaining that the battery on the LG G6 would come with a minimum capacity of 3,200 mAh. Which at the time, led to the understanding that the G6 would likely come with 3,200 mAh, as that seemed to be the key figure being touted. In fact, the latest report does indeed confirm that there has been a 3,200 mAh battery version of the G6 made. Although, the information coming through is that the commercial release variant of the LG G6 will come sporting the slightly higher 3,300 mAh capacity.
It is also worth pointing out that the current information seems to be directly relevant to the US release of the LG G6. Which if correct, could mean that the 3,200 mAh version could still be released, and possible as a region or country-specific variant. As the current information is not clearly stating whether or not the 3,300 mAh battery version will be available outside of the US. However, the reported source information has been credited with stating that the LG G6 battery comes with “better layering between cells.” Which seems to be a direct reference to the safety of the LG G6 battery. Something which has become more of a concern for consumers since the Galaxy Note 7 battery issue first arose.
While the battery is not necessarily an aspect that is expected to be one of the main selling points for the LG G6, if the current estimations are correct, it certainly will be an upgrade compared to what was on offer with last year’s LG G5. Not to mention that with the current concern over smartphone battery safety in general, knowing that the heightened capacity battery suggested, is also one which has been actively designed to be safe, will be another minor selling point that is worth taking note of. A selling point which will likely be touted by many manufacturers with their next-in-line smartphones, throughout 2017.
