Sony has begun to rollout a minor update for its Xperia Z5 family, which consists of the Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5. On top of that, a couple of other Sony devices are also receiving a similar update, and this includes the Xperia Z3 Plus and the Xperia Z4 tablet. The update comes with the software version 32.3.A.0.378. While many users have reported receiving the software update, Sony has yet to officially confirm the rollout. Changes and improvements the update is supposed to bring is not known yet, as the full changelog is yet to be revealed by the Japanese company.
The previous software which is 32.3.A.0.376, came with quite a number of bugs according to users. This includes a drop in audio quality of phone calls. However, users who have received the latest update, have mentioned that the user experience has been improved slightly, and the device is quicker now. New features have also been included, though details of these features are not known at the moment. The update is being delivered as an OTA (Over The Air) package, so if you use any of the said devices, you should be receiving a prompt to download and install the latest update. If you haven’t received the said notification prompt, you may manually check for the update. In order to do this, you will need to head to Settings, and from there, select Software Updates. The update will appear if it is indeed ready for your device. It should also be noted that this update is currently being pushed out to devices which are running on Android 7.0 Nougat. So if you own any device from the Xperia Z5 lineup, a Xperia Z3 Plus or Xperia Z4 tablet, but do not have Android 7.0 Nougat yet, you won’t be receiving the update.
Sony began the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat to the Xperia Z5 lineup, the Xperia Z3 Plus, and the Xperia Z4 Tablet, back in January. However, the rollout was halted after a few a days due inconsistencies related to audio playback via third-party apps and SD card encrypted data read performance. Soon after, Sony rectified the issue and the rollout resumed in early February. However, users in selected regions have yet to receive the update.
