The Sony Xperia XZs is one of the smartphones Sony had introduced at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and it’s the second most powerful smartphone the company introduced at MWC 2017. The Sony Xperia XZs is quite similar to the Sony XZ which was introduced last year, and as many of you know, the Xperia XZ was the company’s flagship smartphone for 2016. That being said, let’s take a look at Xperia XZs’ specs more closely, considering that the general announcement article had been published quite recently.
The Sony Xperia XZ features a 5.2-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) TRILUMINOS display, while it comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. Do keep in mind that the only the dual SIM variant of the phone will ship with 64GB of native storage. The Xperia XZ comes with on-screen buttons, so you won’t find a physical home key below its display. The Sony Xperia XZ is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The device comes with the same camera as the Xperia XZ Premium, which is the most powerful handset Sony introduced today. This means that you’re getting a 19-megapixel main camera (Sony’s custom ExmorR IMX300 sensor, RGB color sensor, distance sensor, PDAF, 6P lens, f/2.0 aperture) with 5-axis OIS. Sony says that this is world’s first 3 layer sensor, and has a 25Gbps transfer rate from sensor to memory (called Motion Eye Sensor). This camera can capture 960fps slow motion video in 720p on the Xperia XZs, and has a high-speed anti-distortion shutter, which is expected to keep images from being warped if you’re taking a shot of an object that is moving fast. In addition to that, the Xperia XZs comes equipped with predictive capture, it can take 4 photos 2 seconds before shutter button is pressed, so that it can intelligently choose taken shots (best of them), and you can choose between them. A 13-megapixel Exmor RS shooter (22mm wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture) can be found on the front side of this smartphone, in case you were wondering.
The Sony Xperia XZs comes with IP65 / IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and a USB Type-C port is placed on the bottom of this smartphone. Android Nougat comes pre-installed on the device with Sony’s custom UI, of course, though Sony did not reveal which exact variant of Android Nougat are we getting here. High-res audio is also a part of this package, in case you were wondering, you’re getting the LDAC and DSEE HX here, as well as Digital Noise Cancelling and Clear Audio+, not to mention that Stereo Recording is also included in this package. A 2,900mAh battery is included here, and it is not removable. Speaking of its battery, you’re getting Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 tech here as well, and also the Qnovo Adaptive Charging. Sony has included Category 9 4G LTE in the Xperia XZs, and the same can be said for NFC as well. The phone will be available in both single SIM and dual SIM variants, while it will ship in Ice Blue, Warm Silver and Black color options. The phone measures 146 x 72 x 8.1mm, while it weighs 161 grams, and it will become available on April 5th for $699.99.
