The Super Bowl is coming up this Sunday, where the Patriots and the Falcons will go head-to-head and find out who is the best team in the league. It’s the biggest game of the year, and there are loads of great apps that you can use to watch and keep up with the game, whether you’re at home or on the road. Here are the best Android apps for Super Bowl 51.
NFL Mobile
As one might expect, NFL Mobile has just about everything you could want for keeping up with the Super Bowl. However, if you aren’t a Verizon subscriber, you won’t be able to watch the game on mobile. Verizon has the exclusive rights to stream NFL games on mobile devices. So this is a great app for Verizon users, as they can watch the game on their smartphone or tablet.
ESPN
Being the global leader in sports, you’d expect ESPN to have loads of coverage of the Super Bowl game and all of the events going on this week in Houston, and they most certainly do. You can keep up with all of the news, along with highlights, stats and so much more by using the ESPN app for your smartphone or tablet.
theScore: Sports Scores & News
theScore is perhaps one of the best all-around sports apps available right now. It’s a great app for keeping up with scores, news, highlights and just about everything else you can imagine. But it’s not just for the NFL, it’s a great app for other sports leagues as well. theScore will also have some special coverage available for the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl LI Houston – FMP
If you’re one of the lucky ones to be heading to Houston (or are already there) for the game, this is a must-have app. This app is going to give you everything you need to know about the Super Bowl. From the schedule of events, to even a map of the stadium so you can get in and find your seat rather quickly.
New England Patriots
New England is truly a dynasty, since Belichick arrived in Foxborough, the Patriots have basically owned their division and been to the Super Bowl numerous times. So it’s no wonder they have plenty of fans. And if you are a Patriots fan, this is the app for you. It’s basically like having a sports app with scores, news and more, but all about the Patriots. Definitely useful heading into Sunday.
FOX Sports GO
Now unfortunately, due to the NFL’s contract with Verizon, you won’t be able to use the FOX Sports GO app to watch the Super Bowl on your phone. However, you can use it to Cast it to your TV, or watch it on your TV with the Android TV app. So it is still pretty useful, not to mention you can watch other things that are on FOX Sports outside of the Super Bowl.
WatchESPN
ESPN won’t be broadcasting the game, as FOX has those rights this year, but they will still have plenty of coverage. And you are able to keep up with all of their coverage from your smartphone. They do also have Chromecast functionality included, so you are able to Cast it to the big screen and watch from there.
NFL Emojis
While the NFL season is pretty much over, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a little fun with some emojis. This app will allow you to use all kinds of emojis and show support for your favorite teams, as well as let others know what you thought of that last play. The NFL Emojis app is free and does work with most smartphones.
Uber
Whether you are at the game in Houston or at a Super Bowl party, it’s a good idea to pick up your phone and call an Uber back to the hotel or your home. It’s not a good idea to drive after you’ve been drinking, and it’s much easier to call an Uber. So while this app isn’t like the others on the list, it is definitely necessary for Super Bowl 51.
Yahoo Sports
Yahoo Sports is a great app for keeping up with the Super Bowl this year. Especially if you aren’t able to watch the game (maybe because you are working?). The Yahoo Sports app will provide you with highlights, scores, news and so much more. It’s also a great app to use after the Super Bowl as they do cover the NBA, MLB, NHL and just about every other major sports league.
