Video games publisher Ubisoft released the first trailer for its upcoming virtual reality (VR) game Virtual Rabbids: The Big Plan. In addition to teasing its next Google Daydream game, the Rennes, France-based company also disclosed some new details about the project. Virtual Rabbids: The Big Plan will task the players with finding a nuclear safety password that was stolen and scrambled by the evil Rabbids. Players will be able to uncover the code by identifying and collecting its individual digits scattered across each level. In addition to digits, the levels in Virtual Rabbids: The Big Plan will also feature a number of optional collectibles, Ubisoft revealed.
The games publisher is seemingly excited about the prospect of VR, as evidenced by the latest comments made by the company’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing Dominique Tardieu. In a statement accompanying the announcement of Virtual Rabbids: The Big Plan, Tardieu revealed how Ubisoft is adamant to explore all emerging platforms and technologies as the company continues to pursue its ultimate goal of delivering immersive interactive experiences. Ubisoft’s executive also hinted that the publisher may release more Daydream games in the future but didn’t elaborate on the matter.
Virtual Rabbids: The Big Plan was officially announced at the latest iteration of Game Developers Conference (GDC) that started in San Francisco on Monday. The game is scheduled to hit the Google Play Store this spring and Ubisoft is expected to announce its firm release date in the coming weeks. However, the wording of Google’s recent update on new Android and Daydream games suggests that Ubisoft’s upcoming title likely won’t hit the Google Play Store before April. Virtual Rabbids: The Big Plan is being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier with assistance from Ubisoft Bucharest and the first two promos for the game can be seen below. The fact that Google managed to enlist the help of a major games publisher like Ubisoft to grow the Daydream platform will almost certainly help the company realize its VR ambitions. Games and other types of content aren’t the only factors that will help grow the Daydream ecosystem in the near future as numerous Daydream-ready smartphones and headsets are expected to be released over the course of this year.
