The LG Watch Sport is making its way to Verizon Wireless today, and the carrier has already outed the pricing of the new smartwatch. The LG Watch Sport will be available for $329 on a new two-year contract with it costing $379 without a contract. The LG Watch Sport does have built-in LTE bands, which is why this model that Verizon is selling is a bit more expensive than the standard model. Of course, this particular model only supports Verizon’s LTE bands, so if you were hoping to buy it and use it on T-Mobile, AT&T or Sprint, that won’t be an option. With it having LTE support, users will be able to leave their phone at home, and just have their smartwatch with them. That is a new feature of Android Wear 2.0, which also launched today.
Android Wear 2.0 is a huge upgrade to the Android Wear platform, and one of the cooler features it brings with it is Android Pay, as Verizon has touted on their listing page of the LG Watch Sport. This allows users to pay for things at the payment terminal of their favorite retailer without needing to pull out their phone or their credit card. This is something that Apple and Samsung have allowed their users to do with their mobile payment system and their own wearables like the Apple Watch and Samsung Gear S3 Frontier already. So it’s nice to see that come to Android Wear.
This particular model from LG is a more sporty smartwatch, so it doesn’t look as nice as the LG Watch Style that was also announced today by Google and LG. This smartwatch features a 1.83-inch circular display, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and it has 4GB of internal storage available. There is also a 430mAh battery inside and a heart rate monitor available for tracking all of your fitness activities with this smartwatch. Which means you can essentially leave your fitness tracker at home, which is pretty nice to say the least. At the time of writing this, you are not able to pre-order or purchase the LG Watch Sport from Verizon, it simply says “Coming Soon”, but that should change shortly.
