After much speculation, LG has finally unveiled the LG G6, its flagship G-series smartphone for 2017. This is a smartphone that looks to be a smarter smartphone, due to the inclusion of the Google Assistant. As well as offering an improved viewing experience thanks to its FullVision display and 18:9 screen aspect ratio, and a more durable build due to an included IP68 water and dust certification. Aspects which LG hopes will appeal to those looking for a new smartphone and who are willing to pay a premium price for one.
Speaking of which, while LG has announced and introduced the LG G6, they have not specifically provided details on how much it will actually cost. Likewise, LG has yet to provide firm availability details for buyers in the US. So at the moment, there is no exact details on the US price of the LG G6 or when it will be available to buy in the US. However, LG has provided some information which is worth knowing. Firstly, although availability dates have not been confirmed, LG has confirmed that the G6 will be available through all the major carriers in the US, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cellular. In addition, although LG has confirmed that the G6 will be available in a number of different colors, only the black and silver color options will be available to US buyers. Another notable aspect is that LG is planning on running a special ‘G6 Game Collection promotion’ at launch. This promotion will allow G6 buyers to take advantage of $200 worth of in-game content for free. LG notes the free content will be available for a selection of Google Play Store games, including Temple Run 2, Spider-Man Unlimited, Crossy Road, SimCity BuildIt, Cookie Jam and Genies & Gems. Content which has been hand-picked to make use of the LG’s FullVision display and especially when using the smartphone in a one-handed mode – which is one of the selling points LG is drawing on with the G6 as this is a smartphone that comes with a larger display, but within a common phone size.
In terms of the rest of the specs, this is a smartphone which comes equipped with a 5.7-inch display with a QHD+ resolution and the already-mentioned 18:9 screen aspect ratio. Inside, you can expect to find 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. This is a smartphone that comes powered by a 3,300 mAh battery and comes running on Android 7.0 (Nougat) out of the box. Additional features include dual 13-megapixel rear cameras, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, wireless charging, Quick Charge 3.0 support, and a microSD card slot.
