Renault has finally announced that they will be including Android Auto in their vehicles, and they actually have 8 vehicles with compatibility already. Those eight vehicles are the 2017 Espace, Kadjar, Megane, Megane Estate, Scenic, Grand Scenic, Talisman and Talisman Estate. Now those aren’t all of the vehicles that will get Android Auto, those are just the ones compatible at this very moment. Renault will also be bringing support to the 2017 Captur, Clio, Clio Estate, Kangoo, Koleos, Master, Trafic, Twingo and Zoe, before the end of the year. Which means if you’re looking to buy a new car from Renault this year, it’s more than likely that you’ll grab one that is compatible with Android Auto, which is definitely nice.
Now, Renault is a French auto maker, and they aren’t that popular in the US, but they are pretty popular in Europe. In addition to getting a vehicle that is compatible with Android Auto, you’ll also need to make sure that Android Auto is available in your country. It is available in most of the larger countries, and there is a an entire list available on the Android Auto support site, so you can check and make sure that your country is indeed available for Android Auto support.
Getting a vehicle that has Android Auto support now isn’t a huge deal, seeing as Google has brought Android Auto to your phone with their Android Auto app. But as we’ve found out from reviewing a number of vehicles already, having Android Auto included is a much better experience than it is using it on a docked smartphone in the vehicle. Especially since you get a larger display. Android Auto works on Android 5.0 Lollipop and later devices, which is the majority of Android devices on the market right now, so that’s a good thing. It’s always great to see more and more vehicles coming with support for Android Auto, making it a standard feature with most vehicles these days, even for those that are on the other side of the world, and still want to use Android Auto as their infotainment system in their car.
