The BlackBerry Aurora has just surfaced on a rather popular Indonesian site, Lazada. As part of this leak, we not only get to see a render of the BlackBerry Aurora, but also its pricing, presuming the info is accurate, of course. Interestingly enough, this very same render surfaced yesterday, but we did not have any other info aside from that picture. Now, based on the provided info, the BlackBerry Aurora (BBC100-1), will ship with on-screen buttons, and its design won’t be overly exciting. The company’s branding will be placed below the display of this smartphone, and both its power / lock and volume rocker keys will be placed on the right. There is a button on the left as well, and this is probably a customizable key which you’ll be able to assign to whatever you want, more or less.
According to Lazada, the BlackBerry Aurora will launch in Black, Gold and Silver color variants, and will cost RP 3.499.000, which translates to $260. Now, this handset is available for pre-order from Lazada as we speak, which means it might actually launch soon in the country. In any case, we’re looking at a mid-range smartphone here it seems. The BlackBerry Aurora is rumored to sport a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 425 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with the Adreno 308 GPU for graphics. A 13-megapixel shooter will be placed on the back of this phone, and an 8-megapixel snapper will be placed on its front side. A 3,000mAh battery is rumored to ship with the BlackBerry Aurora as well, and it will probably not be removable. Two SIM card slots will be available inside of the BlackBerry Aurora, and Android 7.0 Nougat will come pre-installed on the device, along with BlackBerry’s custom UI.
That being said, BlackBerry did announce a new smartphone at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the BlackBerry KEYone. This is actually the BlackBerry Mercury that they brought to CES back in January, but it now carries a different name, and is officially announced. The BlackBerry KEYone is BlackBerry’s most powerful smartphone to date, and it does come with a number of interesting features which you can read more about by clicking here. As far as BlackBerry Aurora goes, all we can do at this point is sit and wait for more information from BlackBerry, stay tuned.
