After the HTC Vive brand became synonym with the concept of high-end Virtual Reality entertainment, rumors along with a leaked image emerged back in January to suggest that the Taiwanese company might be planning to release a Vive-branded smartphone in the future. Although there’s no official word on the so-called HTC Vive smartphone, a concept artist going by the nickname ‘Hege’ recently created a series of renders depicting what he would consider a proper HTC Vive smartphone. Without further ado, meet the fan-made HTC Vive X One concept.
Starting off with the front panel, the HTC Vive X One concept features a large edge-to-edge (or borderless) display, along with two front-facing stereo speakers shaped like the Vive logo, placed on the top and bottom bezels. A power button resides on the right-hand edge and a volume rocker is shown on the opposite side. Looking at the smartphone’s back cover we see another prominent Vive logo at the bottom, as well as a dual camera setup at the top complete with a two-tone, dual LED flash and a laser autofocus module. The artist envisioned the HTC Vive X One concept into three color options, namely gray with black inserts, black with blue elements, and white with sprinkles of red. As for Hege’s view on what hardware components the HTC Vive X One concept should accommodate, the list includes an IPS LCD 5.2-inch display covered by a sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 System-on-Chip, an Adreno 540 graphics chip, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD by up to an additional 256 GB, and a user-removable Li-Ion 3,300 mAh battery. Lastly, the dual-camera setup is comprised of two 13-megapixel sensors, whereas the front-facing module clocks in at a resolution of 8-megapixels. The smartphone would run Android 7.1 Nougat covered by HTC’s proprietary Sense user interface.
