The eBay application is getting a substantial update this week, including a few new features to make things easier for sellers on the platform just in time for spring cleaning. The update itself is, of course, free as part of the regular Android app and eBay says sellers should notice two big feature improvements in general. According to the company blog – through which the announcement was made – there is an average of 11 million new listings added using the mobile application ever week. While features that were previously added to eBay and its app were focused mostly on the platform’s buyers, the latest features are intended specifically to simplify things for sellers who use the mobile platforms to create listings.
The first of the new features is the addition of enhanced cataloging capabilities. With the update, users will be able to search within eBay’s catalog for the item they intend to sell. The listing will then auto-fill product specifications, stock images, pricing and shipping options, and more. The application will still allow a seller to fine-tune things by adding more photos and adjusting pricing and shipping, as well as adding a unique product description. However, the newly enhanced cataloging capability will allow posting to go live that much more quickly since sellers won’t have to manually type in a lot of the information. For example, selling a used Google Pixel XL on eBay through the mobile application previously required the RAM, storage, chipset, and other information to be filled in by the user. Now, a seller can simply search for the device and make small adjustments as needed to the information once it is filled in by the system. Aside from that improvement, changes have been made to the application’s layout for sellers. The new layout shows all of the details on one page in an “easy-to-read format” to make selling “simpler and faster.”
Vice President of Consumer Selling Products at eBay, Kelly Vincent, says the company is committed to keeping its application and sales platform at the bleeding edge of technology as well as leveraging the company’s vast catalog and collected user data to benefit sellers. He goes on to say that the company is excited to get the “updated app into sellers’ hands to make it as quick and easy as possible to list and sell their items.” The update, as with nearly all updates, is rolling out over the course of the week and may take a day or two to hit your device.
