The Galaxy S8 might be one of the most leaked smartphones ever as Samsung’s upcoming Android flagship was already depicted in dozens of different real-life pictures and renders that have been surfacing online for months now. Not surprisingly, a few more images of the device were just uncovered on the World Wide Web and they seem to show the latest version of Samsung’s proprietary user interface (UI), as well as the Always On Display of the Galaxy S8. It’s unclear whether the device depicted in the images below is meant to be the Galaxy S8 or the Galaxy S8 Plus, but regardless, the latest leak corroborates a plethora of previous rumors regarding Samsung’s upcoming handset.
For starters, the image definitely suggests that the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus will ship without a physical home button and will instead feature three on-screen buttons for navigation. Additionally, both devices are expected to sport an almost bezel-less design with a curved Edge display panel and no Samsung branding on the front, which is also confirmed by this latest leak. Finally, the image shows an extra physical button on the side of the device that previous rumors claim will be used for activating Bixby, Samsung’s new artificial intelligence (AI) assistant that the company officially announced just yesterday.
The devices themselves are said to sport a 5.8-inch and a 6.2-inch display panel and will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 and the Exynos 8895 system-on-chip, depending on the region. Numerous reports suggest that both handsets will feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB /128GB of internal storage, an improved version of the iris scanner that debuted on the Galaxy Note 7, and IP68 certification, meaning they’ll be resistant to dust particles and water. The South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer previously confirmed its next-generation Android flagship will be unveiled at a special New York City event on March 29, while both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to launch in the United States and Europe in the second half of April. Samsung’s home country of South Korea might get the device a bit sooner than that, though the company has yet to confirm or deny that rumor.
