Capcom released a mobile remake of its action platform game Ghosts ‘n Goblins that originally debuted back in 1985. The remake is titled Ghosts ‘n Goblins MOBILE and seemingly boasts the same gameplay mechanics that were featured in the seminal arcade game that eventually made its way to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Commodore 64. The Android version of Sir Arthur’s original quest started rolling out on the Google Play Store on Wednesday and should already be available for download all around the world. As for the game itself, it has players assume the role of Sir Arthur who’s fighting hordes of demons and undead creatures on his quest to save princess Prin-Prin. The gameplay mechanics and controls are simple to grasp but difficult to master as you’ll certainly die a lot while playing Ghosts ‘n Goblins MOBILE. Sir Arthur may be the legendary warrior that survived many battles, but he still can’t take more than a couple of hits before perishing and this game will have you endure much more than that before you learn the enemy patterns and level layouts and start navigating your surroundings in an efficient manner. The original game was notorious for its difficulty and the mobile remake is seemingly no different, even though its controls translate reasonably well to virtual buttons. As most contemporary games are nowhere near as challenging as Ghosts ‘n Goblins, Capcom included a new Casual difficulty with this release that’s supposed to be a bit more forgiving towards newcomers, but it can still be frustrating at times if you aren’t used to playing retro games.
Other new additions to the game include support for achievements and leaderboards, as well as multiple control configurations that are meant to cater to all types of players. Ghosts ‘n Goblins MOBILE is compatible with most smartphones and tablets running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and newer versions of Google’s ubiquitous operating system, so you shouldn’t have any issues running the game on virtually any contemporary device.
