Huawei has managed to become one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world, and the company is looking to push some interesting, innovative devices to the market, like the bezel-less smartphone they’re working on as we speak. The company’s CEO, Yu Chengdong, confirmed that the company is working on a completely bezel-less tablet. Mr. Chengdong confirmed that in an interview following the Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus announcement in China which took place recently.
Now, according to Mr. Chengdong, this will be a completely bezel-less smartphone, which means that its display will cover 100% of the phone’s front side, so it will not sport a chin below the display, or anything of the sort. Now, that sounds really exciting and everything, but we do have a ton of questions following this statement, of course. Does this mean that the phone will be thick? How will we hold such a smartphone? Where will Huawei include front-facing sensors, such as a front-facing camera, earpiece, proximity sensor, etc.? Well, those are all good questions, but we do not have an answer for either of them at the moment, we’ll just have to wait and see what is Huawei planning exactly. Now, the company’s CEO did not say when will such a smartphone launch, but we do believe that it might drop before the end of this year considering that the company’s CEO decided to talk about it, that probably means that it has been in development for quite some time now.
Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi Mi MIX last year, a phone which is almost bezel-less, but sports a thin chin below its display. Well, Huawei is probably looking to compete with Xiaomi in this regard, and push things to a whole new level. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is also in development, and according to the company’s CEO, it will sport 93% screen-to-body ratio. So, it seems like we’re about to get some really interesting-looking smartphones in the near future, and even though we really don’t have all that much info just yet, it will be interesting to see what are Huawei and Xiaomi cooking up, of course, so stay tuned, we’ll report back as soon as more info surfaces.
