It seems like Meizu is planning to release their first Super mCharge smartphone early next year. This sentence might seem a bit confusing if you’re not aware what Super mCharge is, but bear with us. Meizu did not introduce a new smartphone during this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, but they did announce something really interesting, a new fast charging technology. Now, on its own, this might not seem all that exciting, but considering this fast charging method can charge up your smartphone in only 19 minutes, and yes, we’re talking about a full charge (0% – 100%) here, it sounds considerably more exciting, doesn’t it?
Now, according to the company, first smartphone that will be able to take advantage of this technology will be released in early 2018 most likely, though there’s a slight possibility it might arrive a bit sooner, at the end of this year. At the moment, Meizu could not share more info than that, as the company probably still doesn’t know what will that phone look like or what specs will be included, other than the fact that it will be included by Super mCharge. So, what is Super mCharge, how does it function? Well, Meizu is using an upgraded data cable, and some interesting circuitry ideas in order to achieve this. Meizu says that they’re utilizing the high-voltage direct charge method, in other words, the company will utilize 11V/5A charging connector which offers a maximum power of 55W. It also utilizes the Charge Pump Principle, as it applies only 2 groups of conversion circuits to directly output half of the voltage. There are a number of solid fast charging methods currently available in the market, but it seems like Meizu’s Super mCharge will be the fastest one. Even if your phone dies in the middle of the day, you can charge it up all the way while you’re drinking a cup of coffee, essentially, which will definitely be a useful feature for plenty of people out there. We do hope that Meizu will manage to release such a smartphone by the end of this year or in early 2018, as promised, but we’ll see, stay tuned.
