Physical Keyboard Mod for the Moto Z lineup recently appeared on Indiegogo as its developers launched a crowdfunding campaign for their product. The campaign is asking for $100,000 in total and allows early backers to receive the Physical Keyboard Mod for Moto Z for $60, which is half of what the device will retail for once it hits the market, the listing reveals. The campaign has currently raised approximately 21 percent of the initial goal with one month left. Seeing how the British developer Liangchen Chen launched the campaign with a fixed goal, it needs to hit the $100,000 mark to receive any money from Indiegogo backers. If funded, the Physical Keyboard Mod for Moto Z will start shipping to backers in July and is expected to hit the market by the end of the summer.
The Indiegogo campaign confirms some details about the upcoming Moto Mod that were already reported in recent weeks. The upcoming physical keyboard will ship with a set of hinges that will allow the device to be tilted by up to 45 degrees and be available in three colors – Black, White, and Gold. Additionally, the UK-based developer is also working on a special Livermorium Starter Edition of the Physical Keyboard Mod for Moto Z that backers can receive by pledging at least $200 to the campaign. The special edition of the device won’t be available for purchase once the keyboard hits the market and was made exclusively for Indiegogo backers, Chen revealed.
Apart from bringing a physical QWERTY keyboard to the Moto Z family, this unique device will also extend its battery life seeing how it’s likely going to be equipped with an additional battery. There’s still now word on how large of a battery the keyboard might ship with seeing how its developers said they still haven’t decided on the details, but more information on the matter will likely be available shortly.
