The HTC U Ultra and U Play are the current talk of the town when it comes to HTC smartphones, but they are not the only smartphones that the company has launched recently. Back towards the close of last year, HTC also introduced the HTC Desire 650. This is the latest Desire model to come through and one which looks to be a solid option for those looking for a mid-range device.
In terms of the design, the HTC Desire 650 does sport a somewhat typical HTC look, so it is very easily to identify this as a HTC device. However, the back of the device is where one of the more obvious design changes can be noted, as the backing comes with a split back. In addition to the top rubber part, you will also find a more textured portion. A combination which HTC suggests will offer more grip to the device, essentially, making this a non-slip sort of smartphone. An extra included feature that you might not necessarily find on a typical mid-range device.
Speaking of which, it is certainly the specs which place this smartphone as a mid-range smartphone. The front of the device sports a 5-inch display which is limited to a 1280 x 720 resolution. Inside, the HTC Desire 650 comes loaded with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor. In terms of the cameras, you can expect to find a 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. Additional notable features include a microSD card slot for storage expansion, a 2,200 mAh battery, and Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box. With of course, HTC’s Sense UI over the top.
So overall, this is a rather mixed bag smartphone. On the one hand the specs are decidedly mid-range and there is nothing too grand to speak of here. In fact, you will likely find better for less. However, this is also a smartphone which places a degree of emphasis on the design and does come with more of a durable build quality, while maintaining a general HTC presentation.
