Nubia Seems To Be Teasing A Dual Camera Smartphone

Nubia seems to be teasing a dual camera smartphone as an image was just recently released onto Weibo that shows what looks like an invitation or a notice of an upcoming event teasing dual camera sensors. The teaser image is mostly in Chinese so not much can be picked up from it at first glance unless you know how to read the language, but it does list off a date of March 21st which suggests this is when Nubia will hold the event where they unveil this new device, whatever it may be.

The date aside, the posting from Weibo mentions a few details about this phone, including the use of a Snapdragon 835 processor from Qualcomm as the CPU hardware, which means that it would come with the Adreno 540 GPU for the graphics processing. If this turns out to be correct then Nubia will be joining other smartphone manufacturers in offering a device with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest processor, which includes the likes of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus, and Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium just to name a few of the devices that have already confirmed the use of this CPU in their upcoming phones.

This would be Nubia’s first smartphone with dual camera sensors but it wouldn’t be the first device in general to sport this kind of feature for the hardware, and certainly not the first when it comes to Chinese smartphone brands. Huawei for example offers a dual rear-facing camera experience on the Huawei P10 which they announced back during Mobile World Congress, and they also offered it on last year’s Huawei P9 smartphone. OPPO, another Chinese smartphone brand, is also rumored to be offering dual camera sensors on their upcoming F3 Plus, which is rumored to be unveiled in the near future, although the difference here is that the F3 Plus is said to offer these dual cameras on the front instead of on the back which is the more common placement for such a characteristic. There is nothing else known about this new Nubia phone so it seems that details will have to wait until Nubia’s event in the coming week.
