Peugeot Instinct Concept With Samsung ARTIK Cloud Unveiled

French automaker Peugeot arrived at the latest iteration of Mobile World Congress (MWC) to showcase the Peugeot Instinct Concept, a futuristic prototype of a vehicle equipped with the Samsung ARTIK Cloud platform. As Explained by Dr. Luc Julia, Samsung Electronics’ Vice President of Innovation, the Samsung ARTIK Cloud system integrated into the Peugeot Instinct Concept allows the vehicle to easily communicate with the cloud, as well as other Internet of Things (IoT) hardware. The South Korean tech giant and the French car manufacturer said that the Peugeot Instinct Concept represents their vision of a connected car of the future. Being a prototype, it’s unlikely that this vehicle will ever hit the market in the form of the car that can be seen here, but it’s possible that Peugeot may base some of its future models on the Peugeot Instinct Concept.

Samsung and Peugeot are claiming that this is the first prototype of a car that ships with a perfectly functional and highly advanced IoT platform. The Peugeot Instinct Concept is capable of analyzing your driving habits and adjusting your driving experience in accordance with your preferences and your schedule. This functionality pertains to both the entertainment system and various organizational tools that ship with the vehicle. The Samsung ARTIK platform allows the Peugeot Instinct Concept to connect to your IoT devices at home and control your TV, personal computer, thermostat, and every other Internet-enabled device in your household.

While the vehicle was designed to learn the driving habits of its owner, it also features four default driving modes – two for manual driving and two for autonomous operation. Those looking to take the wheel of the Peugeot Instinct Concept can choose between the Drive Relax and the Drive Boost mode, while the vehicle also supports the Autonomous Soft and the Autonomous Sharp mode, all of which have relatively self-explanatory names. While this isn’t the first connected vehicle that ever made the appearance at MWC and there are no guarantees that Peugeot will ever commercialize a similar car, the existence of the Peugeot Instinct Concept suggests that Samsung and the French automaker may be looking to collaborate on commercial products in the future, with or without the Samsung ARTIK Cloud platform in the equation.
