Report: LG G6 To Become Available In Israel On March 22

The new LG G6 is expected to launch in its homeland, South Korea, on March 10 and now a new report states that date will be closely followed by an Israeli launch on March 22. According to the information, while the official launch will be on March 22, the official sale would begin a few days later. While it is somewhat unusual for a phone to debut first in somewhere like Israel, the report notes that this represents the close ties between LG and Israel, and the level of uptake for LG devices in the country. The LG G6 will reportedly be available in a 32GB and 64GB configuration in both colors – Black and Platinum.

While the LG G6 is a favorable device in many respects, in many regions, LG could be faced with having to battle against consumers who are waiting on the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8, which will sport the newer Snapdragon 835 chipset. Therefore, LG could be hedging their bets by jumping in early in select regions to grab some of the market shares before the Galaxy S8 arrives. Beyond South Korea and Israel, there has been no word from LG as to where or when the LG G6 will be available in other regions, although it has been reported that pre-orders are already live in the UK and rumors have the LG G6 on its way to Australia on March 28. In terms of the US, while no dates have been provided, it has been confirmed that all four major US carriers – Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint – will sell the device.

The LG G6 will not carry forward the modular design of the LG G5, nor will it have a removable battery, but it will come with an increased 3,300 mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 and adopts wireless charging with its new glass back. The metal framed, glass-backed device will come in just two colors to start with, although LG may add more. It sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD IPS Quantum display in an 18:9 aspect ratio rather than the standard 16:9. In an effort to jump-start sales, LG decided to go with the Snapdragon 821, rather than wait for the newer 835. It is packing 4GB or DDR4 RAM and 32GB of expandable storage in the US. One of the significant features will be the inclusion of Goggle Assistant – it will be the first non-Google phone to offer up this feature. It is also getting the IP68 certification for protection from the water. It will keep its 3.5 mm headphone jack and the newer reversible USB Type-C port for charging or faster data transfer.
