The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro could launch by the end of this month, at least if a newly-surfaced rumor is to be believed. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro launched back in July last year, and was a quite compelling smartphone when it landed, as it sported really compelling specifications, while it didn’t cost all that much. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro was certainly quite a bit more powerful than some other Redmi-branded devices out there, and its successor might launch really soon.
Do keep in mind that this is just a rumor at this point, but the device’s specs did leak a while back. If that leak is to be believed, the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 660 SoC, though some rumors are suggesting that it will ship with MediaTek’s Helio P25 processor. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will pack in a 2.5D curved glass display, though there’s still no indication as to how big its display will be, nor what resolution can we expect. The original Redmi Pro smartphone landed with a 5.5-inch fullHD AMOLED display, so it is possible that its successor might ship with such a panel as well. Earlier leak also suggested that the Redmi Pro 2 will pack in 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of native storage. A 4,500mAh battery was also mentioned in that leak, and its battery will not be removable. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will probably be made out of metal, just like its predecessor, but if an earlier leak is to be believed, it will not sport a dual camera setup on the back, nor a physical home key below its display, which is interesting. It will come with really thin bezels all around, and Xiaomi’s branding will be placed on its back side.
The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is rumored to ship in two variants, as already mentioned, the 4GB RAM model is said to cost 1,599 Yuan ($231), while the 6GB RAM variant might end up costing $260. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be a mid-range smartphone, but quite a powerful mid-ranger, as you can see. It remains to be seen if the device will land before the end of this month, so stay tuned.
