The Xiaomi Mi MIX was one of the most interesting, and most innovative smartphones of 2016, and it seems like the company might be working on a budget ‘Mi MIX’ handset as we speak. Xiaomi’s CEO already confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 will launch later this year, and will, once again, be a high-end smartphone, but according to a new rumor that surfaced in China, the company might be working on a budget ‘Mi MIX’ smartphone as well, which is quite interesting, read on.
Now, according to this rumors, the budget variant of the company’s almost bezel-less smartphone will cost around 999 Yuan ($145), which is an extremely affordable price point, especially if you consider that the original Mi MIX was priced at around 3,999 Yuan ($580) when it launched, and that is a premium price point, obviously. Now, a smaller Xiaomi Mi MIX handset has been rumored for quite some time now, and even though it never became a reality, a new image leaked recently, and it shows off a smaller Xiaomi Mi MIX handset, while it also comes with some info, a picture that you can see above is expected to be a budget variant of the Xiaomi Mi MIX. if provided info is to be believed, this is a simplified variant of the Xiaomi Mi MIX which will ship without a ceramic body, ultrasonic proximity sensor, piezoelectric ceramic driver or ultra-small front camera. This variant of the Xiaomi Mi MIX is expected to sport either 2GB or 3GB of RAM with 16GB or 64GB of native storage, respectively.
In addition to all that, the phone is expected to ship with Sharp’s display once again, and as already mentioned, the phone is expected to cost 999 Yuan ($145), well, the base model is expected to cost that much, its variant with 3GB of RAM will be somewhat more expensive at $217. Now, as already mentioned, we’ve seen such images before, images of a smaller Xiaomi Mi MIX handset, and it was more or less confirmed that a smaller variant is not coming, but quite some time has passed since such leaks were surfacing, and it is possible that Xiaomi is working on a smaller, budget variant of the Xiaomi Mi MIX, though nothing has been confirmed just yet.
