SwiftKey is one of the most popular third-party keyboards on Android right now, and they are always looking for ways to make the keyboard even better for their users. Today, in an update to their beta app, SwiftKey has made some changes to their flow feature. So instead of automatically predicting the word you are trying to swipe, it will now give you three predictions to add in. So instead of auto-inserting the word, you’ll be able to choose the one you want to add in. This might slow down your flow (pun intended), but it might also keep from auto correct making jokes at your expense.
This new beta version of SwiftKey does also add in the Fuzzy Pinyin, and fixes a few other things. Including fixing duplicate numbers, and the emoji access key no longer disappears when you make the keyboard smaller on Android 7.x Nougat. So it’s not a huge update on the beta channel, but there are some good changes here. The changes to SwiftKey Flow may or may not come to the stable version in the near future. It’s going to depend on how well the feature works out for those beta users. Which is the whole point in putting this feature in the beta app before moving it over to the stable version in a few weeks.
When SwiftKey first debuted their Flow feature a few years ago, it was hailed as a great feature and many said that it worked better then Swype which was all about swiping to input words instead of typing like you would on a physical keyboard. SwiftKey has made it easy to type as well as Flow and swipe around the keyboard to put in your words. If you are interested in checking out SwiftKey Beta, you can download it from the Google Play Store. Keep in mind that this is a beta app, so you may run into a few bugs or stability issues, but that comes with the nature of using a beta app. So that shouldn’t be a surprise.
