Sygic Car Navigation Now Shows Real-Time Fuel Prices

Sygic’s Car Navigation app is already a feature-rich, all-in-one competitor to apps like Waze and Google Maps, and now it can show you fuel prices all along your route to let you plot out how much you’ll be spending on gas, or where the best places are to stop off and fill up. The feature was first shown at MWC 2017. It is not just available in the app, but can also be beamed directly to a compatible head unit in your vehicle. The app can also send your head unit information like directions, nearby landmarks, and even the locations of speed cameras and other such hazards to a pleasant trip. On top of all of that, certain vehicles’ control systems can be hooked into by the app and used from either your phone or the head unit.

The Sygic Car Navigation app is available for free in the Play Store, and comes with a seven day trial of the app’s premium functions. Unfortunately, this includes most of the functions of the app – it can basically just display a map for you and provide points of interest on that map. Map updates come at a faster pace for premium subscribers, premium subscribers’ map updates are guaranteed for accuracy and timeliness, and they’re the only ones for who turn-by-turn directions are available. Most importantly, compatibility with any car infotainment system head unit that uses MirrorLink, the crown jewel of the app, is another feature reserved strictly for premium users.

Along with MirrorLink, the app can hook into control systems that are built into vehicles from manufacturers like Ford, Honda, and Jaguar. The wide compatibility and advanced capabilities got Sygic an accolade from the BBC, who spoke highly of the automotive-focused app developer. Sygic’s app suite offers navigation and map coverage of more than 200 countries, with support for over 40 languages built in. It’s also one of a relatively small crop of apps that can claim to be able to hook into a wide range of car infotainment systems to provide seamless information, navigation, and control from a user’s smartphone or compatible head units of many vehicles from a number of major manufacturers.
