The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus have both now been introduced, following Samsung’s latest unpacked event which took place earlier today. Following that initial announcement, T-Mobile has announced its intention to carry both devices and has provided some brief details on how a T-Mobile customer (new or old) can go about securing their very own Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus.
For those looking to pick up the smaller Galaxy S8 from T-Mobile, then it looks like the uncarrier will actually be one of the first to open pre-orders as they will be accepting orders on both models from 9:01 p.m. PT tonight. While general availability is expected to commence starting from April 21. In terms of the price, the Galaxy S8 will be available for $30 per month (with $30 down) on an Equipment Installment Plan – which works out to be $750 in total. While those looking to pick up the larger Galaxy S8 Plus, the difference in price is largely at the point of purchase as the Galaxy S8 Plus will also be available for $30 per month on an Equipment Installment Plan but with a greater $130 down payment. Which brings the total for the Galaxy S8 Plus to $850. In either case, T-Mobile has confirmed that pre-orders through the carrier will come with a free Gear VR headset.
These two Galaxy S8 models are the latest additions to the ever-popular Samsung Galaxy S range and directly follow on from the Galaxy Note 7 which saw its availability being pulled following a number of issues surrounding the safety of the battery. In terms of these new models, Samsung made it abundantly clear that every precaution has been taken in assuring both the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are as safe as can be. Speaking of the batteries, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S8 now comes with a 3,000 mAh battery while the larger Galaxy S8 comes equipped with a 3,500 mAh battery. Additional features common to both include 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC – at least for devices running in the US, including T-Mobile sold models. A 12-megapixel camera can be found on the back, while an 8-megapixel camera can be found on the front. Interested T-Mobile customers should also expect a number of OTT features to be included, such as Samsung Pay support, Samsung’s Bixby assistant, fast charging, wireless charging, fast wireless charging, and more.
