Verizon’s Fios app now allows data-free video streaming for subscribers of the service, which means you’re now more capable than ever of watching all of the videos you want on the go. Naturally, you will need to be a Fios customer and not just a customer of Verizon Wireless, but if you fit into that category of customer then you’ll have access to loads of streaming video whether it’s on-demand content, shows that you’ve recorded through your DVR, or live TV that’s currently playing at the time you open up the application to watch something. Whatever kind of content you prefer, it seems like it’s all here.
For customers who prefer live TV, the Fios mobile app allows access to more than 140 live channels across many different genres of content, and although the access to live TV and other video is not new, now you won’t have to worry about using up your data when you watch anything. While eating up data is now less of a concern for Verizon customers who have switched over to the new Verizon Unlimited plan, data-free streaming with Fios Mobile is a big benefit to anyone who is still on the S, M, L, or XL plans as Verizon still offers these options, all of which come with specific amounts of data each month.
While data-free streaming is now available, you’ll need the most recent version of the Fios app to actually get the benefits, so users will want to head to the Play Store and check to see if the update is available and if so install it. In addition to adding this new feature for Fios customers, Verizon is adding some incentive for non-customers to consider the switch over to Verizon’s mobile service and add Fios to the mix. Customers who switch and sign up for both will end up getting “up to” $500 back although this is something that Verizon actually announced at the end of last month, but the bundle is still available. Having said that Verizon also notes that this promotion is limited so you’ll want to sign up for it as soon as possible if you’re considering it. Also worth mentioning is that $250 out of that $500 is in bill credits, while the other $250 is on a Verizon gift card, and the wireless plan will need to be the newly released Verizon Unlimited for it to count.
