ZTE Axon 7 Mini Android 7.1.1 Nougat Preview Is Out

ZTE is currently inviting owners of the ZTE Axon 7 Mini in the United States to try out the preview of Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for their devices, which is another way of asking users to help test the new build ahead of its public rollout. Those who currently own the Axon 7 Mini can go ahead and fill out the participation form with their personal details that can be accessed by following the source link below.

The preview will allow Axon 7 Mini users to test out the new features and functionalities brought by Android 7.1.1 Nougat and provide ZTE with feedback in key areas such as performance, stability, and usability. Registrations are only accepted on ZTE’s forums, so those who haven’t signed up for an account yet are required to do so. ZTE will contact those selected to take part in the preview program, the firm said. The company also noted that participants will need to abide by a few rules including strictly following ZTE’s Non-Disclosure Agreement, completing all the assigned tasks and surveys on time, and providing detailed bug reports.

Announced in September 2016, the Axon 7 Mini is a revised version of the Axon 7. The phone comes with a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and takes advantage of the Snapdragon 617 processor, an octa-core system-on-chip (SoC) shipping with four 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 cores and four 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores. The device also features 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage expandable by up to 256GB via its microSD card slot. The phone boasts a main 16-megapixel camera with f/1.9 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and dual LED flash, as well as an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture. The Axon 7 Mini also boasts a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and is powered by a 2,705mAh battery. The product was launched with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box but will soon be updated to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, thus skipping over Android 7.0. Unlike the Axon 7 Mini, the company’s high-end Axon 7 was previously updated to Android 7.0 and has also already received the Android 7.1.1 update. Now the Chinese company is turning its attention to its mid-range device lineup, meaning the Blade V8 Pro could soon also get updated with Nougat.
