Amazon launched a new self-service digital subscriptions store called Subscribe with Amazon, the Seattle, Washington-based tech giant announced on Monday. The new online marketplace has been in the works for approximately a year now and has already been available to select customers in recent months, but all interested users are able to access it as of today. Amazon said that the newly launched digital platform was developed to assist subscription businesses in selling their services by providing them with a way to easily reach a massive audience that’s already a part of the Amazon ecosystem.
All interested businesses are able to self-enroll in the program that provides them with a wide variety of options to personalize their offerings in order to provide their customers with flexible services, the Seattle-based eCommerce giant said. Apart from being able to easily change the monthly and annual subscription prices of their services, all interested businesses will also be able to use Subscribe with Amazon to provide their customers with exclusive Amazon Prime deals. The current scope of the newly launched platform spans everything from digital magazines and news subscriptions to various educational content, productivity tools, and multimedia services, many of which were already available for purchase through Amazon. However, with the introduction of Subscribe with Amazon, the largest eCommerce company in the world has now launched a comprehensive platform for all related products and services.
Apart from standalone products, sellers using Subscribe with Amazon will also be able to utilize cross-promotions and bundle their services with physical items in an effort to boost sales. From the consumer point of view, the new service won’t be significantly different to use than Amazon’s main site as it will simply serve as a hub for browsing subscription-based products, which should facilitate the process of online shopping, the company said. All services being sold on the platform are subject to the same business terms, as Amazon will take a 30-percent cut from their subscriptions during their first 12 months on the market, after which that cut will be reduced to 15 percent and won’t change any further.
