Google has started rolling out Android 7.1.2 Nougat yesterday to the company’s Pixel and Nexus devices (with the exception of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9). Android 7.1.2 factory and OTA images are already available for download, in case you’re interested, and now the company also shared the Android 7.1.2 Nougat changelog, which some of you will find rather interesting. Even though the company did not push any major features out with this update, they did squash quite a bit of bugs, and have added some goodies as well, read on.
Let’s take a look at the changelog for the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL first, shall we. With the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update, Google has improved fingerprint swipe performance on the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL, at least the company’s official changelog says so. In addition to that, the company also did their best to improve Bluetooth connectivity on the two devices, while a new feature has been added as well, Battery Usage Alerts. Now, a changelog for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player and the Pixel C is a bit different. Google says that they improved notification stability on the aforementioned devices, while they’ve also enhanced general connectivity of those devices. Battery usage alerts feature has been added to the Nexus devices as well (and Pixel C also), while the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P received the ‘Fingerprint Swipe’ feature along with this update, which was a Pixel exclusive up until now.
Now, it is important to keep in mind that this update might not hit your device immediately, Google will be rolling out Android 7.1.2 Nougat gradually over the next couple of weeks, as per usual, so it might take a while until you get a notification that the update is ready for your phone. You can always manually check if it is available by navigating to settings, and if you’re really impatient and want to get the update straight away, you can always manually flash it, of course, though we suggest that you don’t do that unless you know exactly what you’re doing, as you can brick your device in the process.
