Luckily for us, there are a ton of secure Android apps out there, apps that are focusing on your phone’s security, security of special apps on your phone or perhaps some other aspects of it. Now, we’re here to take a look at some encryption apps, we’ve combined a list of our top 10 encryption applications, and we do hope that you’ll find some that you haven’t tried out yet. That being said, these apps are not listed in any specific order, so do keep that in mind. In any case, let’s get started, shall we.
Signal Private Messenger
Signal (Private Messenger) is one of the most popular private messaging apps out there. This app offers end-to-end encryption, which means every single one of your messages is secure. There are a number of other, interesting features this app has to offer, and it’s completely free to use. Over 1 million people downloaded the app, and it is currently holding a 4.6-star rating in the Google Play Store.
Telegram
Telegram is, in a way, similar to Signal, but it is even more popular. This app has over 100 million downloads at the moment, and it comes with a combination of 256-bit symmetric AES encryption, 2048-bit RSA encryption and Diffie-Hellman secure key exchange. All in all, this is a secure messaging application which is well-designed and free to use, while it offers a number of features a regular messaging app would offer.
AppLock
Some smartphones come with an app locker pre-installed, but most of them do not, which is where this app comes in. AppLock will let you encrypt any app on your phone, and there are plenty of options this app gives you. In order to unlock locked apps, you can set AppLock to request your fingerprint (Android 6.0+), pin or pattern password. This app comes with in-app purchases, while ads are also included.
LastPass Password Manager
LastPass is one of the most popular, and best password managers out there. This is both a password manager and password generator, and its purpose is to keep your mind off passwords. With this app, there’s no need to remember 5, 6… 10 different passwords, all you need is one, and LastPass does the rest. This app comes with a ton of options, and it is free to use, though in-app purchases are included.
K-9 Mail
K-9 Mail is an application that has been around for a long, long time. This app doesn’t exactly offer the most modern design any longer, but it’s incredibly functional, and it was ahead of its time when it was launched years ago. This is essentially an e-mail app which hosts all sorts of other e-mail clients, and it’s encrypted. K-9 Mail is filled with various features, and is completely free to use.
Google Authenticator
Google Authenticator is Google’s very own app. Now, this app’s purpose is quite simple, and yet it’s very useful. This app generates 2-step verification codes on your phone, presuming that you have activated the 2-step verification feature for your Google Account. This process basically makes your Google Account way more secure, and even though you can get this code via an SMS message, for example, having this app installed makes the whole process a lot simpler.

SSE – Universal Encryption App has many uses, actually. This app can serve as your password vault, text encryptor, file encryptor… and so much more. This app encrypts everything using strong encryption algorithms: AES (Rijndael) 256bit, RC6 256bit, Serpent 256bit, Blowfish 448bit, Twofish 256bit, GOST 256bit + Threefish 1024bit and SHACAL-2 512bit (for S.S.E. ProtonMail – Encrypted Email
ProtonMail is an e-mail app, obviously, and in addition to looking really sleek, this app is well protected. This is world’s largest encrypted e-mail service with over 1 million users, says the developer. This app integrates PGP end-to-end encryption, while it also offers a ton of regular e-mail features that you can use. This service is also open to inspection by security experts, as it is open source.
SealNote Secure Encrypted Note
SealNote is one of the most secure note-taking apps out there. This application resembles Google Keep in terms of the design, and it also has plenty of features to offer. All of your notes within this app are password protected, and the app is using an industry standard 256-bit AES encryption in order to keep your information safe. This application is completely free to use, and there are no ads here either.
Opera Free VPN
Opera VPN is not exactly an encryption app per se, but it’s a really useful app to have if you’re trying to mask your IP or something of the sort. This is a VPN app, as its name states, and it’s extremely simple to use. All you have to do is fire up the app and connect to it, that’s it. This app can come in handy if you’re trying to access some content that is not available in your country, or if you’re simply trying to increase your security while surfing in general.
