Moto has big plans for its Moto Mods platform and one in particular looks quite promising, the tablet dock. A Mod which turns your Moto Z into a table-styled device. Now a concept of the Mod has made its way online showcasing what the Mod could look like when it becomes available. Of course, this is not the first time that such a device has come to market as the new Moto Mod will follow on from the likes of the old Atrix Laptop Dock that Motorola tried a few years back, and more recently, the Samsung DeX dock. One which allows you to attach a keyboard, display, and mouse to your Galaxy S8/S8 Plus and use it in a desktop-like manner.
The concept of modular phones has been around for a while and while some, like the LG G5, did not go over very well with the public, others, like the Moto Z, has been embraced by users. One of the big reasons is that the Moto approach is not as intrusive, as you can use the phone as is or ‘snap’ a Moto Mod on the back. It is held in place by magnets and is stabilized by the Moto camera that extrudes out from the body. There is no rebooting, you simply snap it in place and remove it when you are finished. The Moto Z’s software automatically knows when it is in place and when it is removed. It offers a no fuss and no hassle for the user. Another smart thing that Moto did was to make the Mods work with all models of the Moto Z. This starts at the mid-range Moto Z Play to the higher end Moto Z and to the most powerful model, the Moto Z Force, which is a Verizon Droid exclusive. All owners can benefit from the Moto Mods and Moto said they will be available to use for at least three model years, so they will not be obsolete right away.
Right now, you can purchase a Power Pack that adds a 2,200 mAh battery to your Moto Z model that also instantly adds wireless charging. The Hasselblad camera model will give you 10X Optical Zoom and Xenon flash. The JBL SoundBoost Speaker places two speakers on the back of your Moto Z – great when you are having a party. The Moto Insta-Share Projector on the other hand, instantly turns any flat surface into a 70-inch big screen. You can also order swappable backs to personalize the look of your Moto Z.
