Google is seeking help from Android Wear users for research studies and they’re tossing in a little extra incentive for anyone who might be interested but are on the fence about whether or not they actually want to participate. According to Google’s post on the Google Product Forums, they are looking for users who are currently using the Android Wear platform in the U.S. to take part in some form of research. Things begin with a short survey and after all the research is said and done, users will get a thank-you gift for participating in the study about Google’s smartwatch platform.
There are a few things to make note of here if you’re a current U.S.-based consumer who uses Android Wear. First, Google doesn’t mention any details about the actual research study, so there’s no way to know right now what participants will be asked to do. There’s also no information about how long the research will take so it could stretch out over the span of a few weeks or it could even be limited to a single day. Only those who take the survey and then participate will be allowed to find out, at least until the research is over and people start receiving those free thank-you gifts.
Lastly, Google doesn’t mention what the gift is, so it could be anything from a free product to free Google Play credit, which might not be too far off now that Android Wear supports the Play Store and watches can install apps directly. Whatever the case, getting any free gifts from Google is a good thing and it’s likely that it will be worth the time it takes to participate. Google is not letting just anyone participate in the study and only “selected participants” will receive the free gift, so if you’re interested in being part of the research then it’s a good idea to sign up to be considered as early as you possibly can as you may have a better chance of getting in that way, though there’s no guarantee that will make any difference. The post was just made today but there is no information about how long Google will be accepting sign ups, so this is another reason to get that process out of the way.
