Samsung’s new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus flagships are already no strangers to the luxury treatment, and now a company called Legend is stepping up to make their own take on the trend, this time with tons of options and one of the lowest price tags among specially made Galaxy S8 variants thus far. The use of real animal leather, the low prices on offer, and the sheer amount of customization options available make Legend’s new Galaxy S8 family a unique one.
The precious metal options are 24 karat yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum. The leather options, which go on top of the precious metals, include ostrich, lizard, crocodile, and shark, among others. Anybody ordering any of the leather versions can choose a color, within reason. The leather is inlaid onto the precious metal units by a master leather craftsman. Each variant comes with a raised metal ring around the Samsung logo on the back to emphasize the branding. To truly make it the ultimate Samsung fan accessory, Legend puts a ring of diamonds inside those metal rings. Colored diamonds can take the place of clear diamonds to accent the color of the leather or metal chosen, if a user wishes, at no extra charge. No matter what customization options you choose, they all come in a special luxurious presentation box, and are packaged with a certificate of authenticity from Legend.
The precious metal versions all run €2,790 ($3,001), while the leather versions cost €2,890 ($3,108). These prices are another calling card of Legend’s take on the bespoke phone trend; most decked out Galaxy phones cost up to tens of times as much as their normal versions, but Legend’s pieces are a bit more reasonable in comparison to their more pedestrian versions. The base Galaxy S8 variant, for example, costs €799 ($859). The ongoing march of luxury phone manufacturers lining up to give the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus a makeover is a continuation of a proud tradition, one that was also invoked last year with a good few unique and luxurious variants of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge made to order.
