LG G6's Price & Pre-Order Promotions For India Leaked

Pre-orders for the LG G6 will open in India tomorrow and last until April 30, according to a well-known local retailer Mahesh Telecom. A representative of the Mumbai-based company took to Twitter on Wednesday to share some more details about the availability of LG’s latest Android flagship in India, adding that all customers who opt to place advanced orders on the device will receive a 50-percent discount on the LG Tone Active+ Bluetooth headset that usually retails for around $180 and will be eligible for a cashback of up to 7,000 rupees, which amounts to approximately $108. As for the device itself, the LG G6 will launch in India next month with a price tag of between 53,000 rupees (≈$820) and 54,000 rupees (≈$835), Mahesh Telecom said.

While the Seoul-based consumer electronics manufacturer has yet to officially confirm any of the details outlined above, if Mahesh Telecom’s information is correct, an update on the situation should follow no later than tomorrow. The rumored Indian pricing of the LG G6 is relatively competitive in light of the fact that LG’s main competitor Samsung is retailing the Galaxy S8 for approximately $60 more, while the Galaxy S8 Plus will launch in the country with a price tag that exceeds $1,000. That price difference might be enough for LG to grab some market share from Samsung that still dominates the phone industry in the country with a 20-percent market share, though its control has been declining in recent quarters due to increased competition from local and Chinese brands. All major original equipment manufacturers including Samsung and LG have been increasing their efforts to compete in India in recent years seeing how the South Asian country is one of the last massive phone markets on the planet that still isn’t showing alarming signs of saturation. According to recent estimates, Indians might purchase up to 130 million new handsets over the course of 2017, which is a market that all phone vendors rightfully deem worth fighting for.

The G6 is LG’s latest attempt to put its mobile division back in the spotlight after several consecutive years of disappointing performance. While it remains to be seen whether the company’s new flagship will manage to outsell its recent predecessors, an update on its performance will likely follow soon.
