The Honor 8 was a really popular smartphone last year, and it still is, while its successor keeps on leaking out. The Honor 9 render surfaced a couple of days ago with a Sapphire Blue paint job, and the device just leaked yet again, though this time around it comes in a new color variant, one that we haven’t seen before. If you take a look at the provided image, you’ll get to see a Purple variant of the Honor 9, well, at least this color looks purple, it’s rather light, though.
Now, as you can see, this phone does resemble its predecessor, but there are a couple of key differences here. The Honor 9 seems to have a curved back cover, as you can see, its glass back cover is curved on the sides, which is different compared to the Honor 8’s flat back side. The Honor 9 does not sport a fingerprint scanner on the back, like the Honor 8 did, Huawei opted to move its fingerprint scanner on the front side of the device, it is located below the phone’s display. The Honor 8 did not sport any buttons below its display, it shipped with on-screen keys, well, it is possible that the Honor 9 will sport a set of capacitive keys next to its fingerprint scanner, though nothing is certain yet. It is also possible that the fingerprint scanner on this device will not double as a home key, and that Honor plans to stick to on-screen buttons, who knows. Honor might opt to utilize this key as a fingerprint scanner only, and also utilize it for some gestures, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
The Honor 9 comes with a set of physical keys on the right, its volume up and volume down keys are placed above the phone’s power / lock key, and as you can see, this phone is not exactly bezel-less. The Honor 9 has quite a bit of bezel on its body, though chances are its display will be 5.2 inches large, so the phone will not have a big footprint. The Honor 9 will probably utilize Huawei’s Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor which we’ve seen included in the Honor 8 Pro which was announced recently. The Honor 8 was announced, and it became available, in August last year, so chances are this phone (the Honor 9) will also arrive in July, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
