Sony’s Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra will hit Canada starting May 5th, allowing consumers in the region to get their hands on two of Sony’s latest smartphones in the near future, both of which were announced by the company back at the end of February during Mobile World Congress. Sony will not be launching both phones in the Canadian market on the same day, rather they will be launching at different times, beginning with the Xperia XA1 first. The launch of the Xperia XA1 is also coming to different carriers at different times. For example, the Xperia XA1 will launch on May 5th on Videotron’s network, but it won’t be launching on Freedom Mobile until May 12th.
The same is not entirely true for the Xperia XA1 Ultra, as Sony won’t be launching this device in the country until the following month. That being said, it will be coming to both Freedom Mobile and Videotron at the same time which Sony mentions will be starting on June 22nd, so those willing to hold out until near the end of June will be able to get it from either carrier. While this gives Canadian consumers an idea of where and when they’ll be able to pick up either phone, the pricing details have not been listed just yet as this particular information will be announced individually by each carrier, so unfortunately consumers will have to wait until each respective carrier details the cost before they know how much they’re spending.
This wouldn’t be the first time North America has seen these new devices from Sony go on sale as pre-orders for the US market for the Xperia XA1 went live back on April 24th, and sales of the device went live in Hong Kong at the very beginning of the month, specifically on April 3rd. Sony doesn’t mention which colors of the phone will be available from which carrier or if both carriers will sell all three colors for each device, so this is likely to be more information that will be individually announced by each respective carrier when they announce the pricing details. For the Xperia XA1, those details shouldn’t be too far off since the phone will be on sale at both carriers after May 12th.
