Alcatel Idol 5 On Geekbench Shows Snapdragon 625/3GB Of RAM

The Alcatel Idol 5 seems to have popped up on Geekbench showing the phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor inside along with 3GB of RAM for the memory. The Geekbench listing isn’t exceedingly telling when it comes to device details but it does show the device as running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and it shows a single core score of 929 as well as a multi-core score of 4410. Other than what’s listed on these benchmark results, there isn’t any other defining information about the phone, but the Qualcomm processor and the amount of RAM that are on offer do match up with a previous leak that is thought to be the Alcatel Idol 5 from April, which also boasts a Snapdragon 625 CPU and 3GB of RAM.

That said, those particular specs details are a bit different than the ones that were listed on GFXBench earlier this month, which boasts 2GB of RAM instead of 3GB, and a MediaTek Helio P20 processor instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chip. Also worth noting is that the earlier leaks of this device are listed with a model number of Alcatel 6060, while today’s leak is listed as the 6060S, so this could be a leak for the Idol 5S. Though the processor and RAM amounts are different, what’s likely the case here is that these are simply different variants of the device that will be meant for different regions of the globe when the phone actually launches sometime later this year.

Which regions around the globe those are haven’t been made clear of course, but the Snapdragon version would likely be meant for Europe and the U.S., assuming it comes to the U.S., while the MediaTek version would probably be designed for the Asian market, especially considering both the MediaTek-powered version of the phone and the earlier leaked Snapdragon version were both leaked via GFXBench. The Alcatel Idol 4 started hitting carriers around the globe last Fall, so the Alcatel Idol 5 could be set up for a Fall-time launch as well, which could mean that an official announcement of the phone is not too far off. If Alcatel is preparing to announce the Idol 5 sometime soon then then additional specs and hardware features may end up leaking sometime in the near future.
