The Daydream Keyboard now supports more languages thanks to the latest update to the application that Google has started to push out for it to the Play Store. According to the Play Store listing page for the Daydream Keyboard under the What’s New section, Google details that they have added support for a total of seven new languages to the list, which includes Singapore English, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Chinese Simplified, Danish, and Dutch. As an added bonus, users can unselect all of the languages and the keyboard will auto-default to whatever language you have set for your system, which in this case would be the connected Daydream-compatible smartphone, like the Google Pixel or Pixel XL.
While these are two of the biggest changes in this update for the application, there are a couple of other changes that were part of the update as well. Google says that the layout for punctuation marks has been improved which presumably was intended to make them easier to find and work with, though it being an improvement probably depends on how you felt about the layout of punctuation marks before this update was implemented.
Two other minor changes that were introduced with this update are a fix for the toggle button, which Google says was causing some users an issue where it wouldn’t be visible. Understandably, not being able to see the toggle button would make it rather challenging to interact with it, so it’ not surprising that Google would push this fix out to the app, especially considering that the Daydream Keyboard is how you interact with the content on the Daydream platform where you need to actually type something. The last change relates to the expand button, and here Google has made it so that this button will now hover as per the addition of a new “hover state.” Alongside the updates to Daydream Keyboard it looks like Google has also started updating the Daydream application with some stability and performance improvements, though there aren’t any new features to speak of by the looks of it so the update seems to be just about making the app run more smoothly. These updates should already be live in the Play Store.
