Geekbench Lists New Nokia Handsets With SD 835, 660 & 630

Three new Nokia devices were recently listed in the database of popular mobile benchmarking tool Geekbench, sporting a range of  Qualcomm‘s latest chipsets. While none of the listings explicitly mention Nokia, the codenames of all of the recently benchmarked handsets contain the word “Heart” that’s traditionally used for HMD Global’s phone prototypes. Both the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 have previously appeared in online benchmarks with similar codenames, and the newly uncovered Geekbench listings now mention two “Unknown Heart” models and one “HMD Global Heart,” clearly indicating that the devices are being manufactured by the company that now makes Nokia phones.

While the two “Unknown Heart” handsets have been tested and listed by Geekbench earlier this month, the HMD Global Heart was already benchmarked back in March but its listing wasn’t uncovered until now. The most powerful of the three devices is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 (SoC) and 4GB of RAM, with its octa-core chip running at a maximum frequency of 2.45GHz. The device is likely HMD Global’s upcoming Nokia flagship that will either be marketed as the Nokia 8 or Nokia 9, according to previous industry rumors. Nokia has yet to release a high-end Android device in its post-Microsoft area and reports from earlier this year suggested that the Finnish phone maker will do so in the second half of 2017 after its entry-level and mid-range offerings are already widely available.

Another recently benchmarked Nokia device is powered by either the Snapdragon 626 or the newly announced Snapdragon 630 whose eight cores are clocked at a maximum frequency of 2.21GHz. The phone features 3GB of RAM and was running Android 7.1.1 Nougat at the time of its testing, just like the aforementioned flagship. The last Nokia handset is likely sporting the new Snapdragon 660, a quad-core SoC clocked at 1.84GHz, in addition to boasting 2GB of RAM. Unlike the other two models, this particular variant was running Android 7.0 Nougat when it was benchmarked by Geekbench earlier this month. HMD Global is expected to announce new Android smartphones in the coming months, so more details about the company’s future product lineup should be available shortly.
