How The Bezel-Less BLUBOO S1 Compares To The Xiaomi Mi MIX

BLUBOO has compared its new S1 smartphone to the Xiaomi Mi MIX to provide users with an overview of how the two bezel-free smartphones stack up against each other. Especially considering these phones both employ a tri-bezel-less design – where the bezels are largely absent on three of the four sides of the front panel.

Looking at the hardware side of things, the BLUBOO S1 comes packed with a 5.5-inch FHD Display with a 368 ppi and a 90-percent screen-to-body ratio. In contrast, the Xiaomi Mi MIX comes loaded with a 6.4-inch display with an FHD resolution, 362 ppi, and 91.3-percent screen-to-body ratio. Inside, the BLUBOO S1 comes loaded with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage (although there is also a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option available). Both options do come with expanded storage support (up to 256GB). While the Mi MIX comes loaded with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage (and also a 6GB RAM and 256GB storage variant). Although neither model comes with the option to expand the storage. Processor-wise, the BLUBOO S1 comes powered by a MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core SoC (clocking at 2.5 GHz) along with an Adreno 530 GPU. While the Mi MIX comes loaded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core SoC (clocked at 2.35 GHz) along with an Adreno 530 GPU. On the camera side of things, the BLUBOO S1 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 16-megapixel primary camera along with a 3-megapixel secondary camera. Which is in addition to the 8-megapixel front-facing camera. In contrast, the Mi MIX comes equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Battery life on the BLUBOO S1 comes by way of a 3,500 mAh battery, while the Mi MIX comes powered by a 4,400 mAh battery. Likewise, both smartphones contain a fingerprint sensor. The BLUBOO S1 comes running on Android 7.0 (Nougat), while the Mi MIX comes running on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). In terms of the physical properties, the BLUBOO S1 measures 148.6 by 74.3 by 7.9 mm and weighs in at 175 grams. While the Mi MIX measures 158.8 by 81.9 by 7.9 mm and weighs in at 209 grams.

On the hardware alone, it does seem clear that the Mi MIX is the better of the two smartphones as it does come with a higher overall spec list. However, it also does come with a higher price and by a long ways. With BLUBOO pointing out that the Xiaomi Mi MIX is about four times the price of the S1, as the S1 can be picked up for only $150. Which is in spite of the BLUBOO S1 also coming with a number of features that are not included on the Mi MIX. Such as a rear dual camera setup, a higher megapixel front-facing camera, the option to expand the storage, and more.
