The rumored Moto G5S has now shown up online in new images, that not only provide a good look at the upcoming device, but also the variety of colors that it will likely become available in. The images come from Android Authority, who in turn credit “a trusted source familiar with Lenovo’s plans” as the source. So providing the images are accurate depictions of the Moto G5S, then it looks as though the device will be available (at the very least) in gold, grey, and blue color options. As for the design, the report details that the Moto G5S will sport a full metal design. The images also do highlight that a menu key (and presumably embedded fingerprint sensor) will be included on the front. While the Moto ‘dimple’ is in effect on the back, along with a similar rear camera to that found on the Moto G5 and G5 Plus models.
In terms of the specs, this report does not provide any firm information on what should be expected. However, last week a leak surfaced online which seemed to detail all of the different price and spec level smartphones that are set to come through from Lenovo and Moto. The Moto G5S was part of that lineup, along with another model – the Moto G5S Plus. While that leak was also pretty limited on details, it did confirm that the display in use on the Moto G5S will be 5.2-inches in size and adopt a 1920 x 1080 resolution. With the Plus version adopting the same resolution but on a larger 5.5-inch display. That particular leak also did highlight that the Moto G5S would come with a full metal design, which as mentioned, was reconfirmed in this latest report.
So while this does seem to be another smartphone that will be aimed at the affordable sector, it also does seem the design will be placing this one at a slightly more premium level than the standard Moto G5 and Plus. That is, providing the rest of the specs are in line with the leaks that have come through so far. Those looking for a much more premium device though, will likely want to hold out for the Moto Z2 line, which will come packing a greater level of performance and features. One of which, the Moto Z2 Play, was recently revealed in full when it passed through TENAA.
