One of the law firms that was previously pursuing a case over the Nexus 5X has dropped its LG Nexus 5X Bootloop lawsuit reportedly due to LG extending warranty support for the device for some of the customers who were having problems. In some instances LG is even offering to repair the device, thus providing customers with a resolution to get their phone fixed. The law firm in question is Chimicles & Tikellis LLP, which was the most recent to file a case against LG over device issues, and was also pursuing a case against Huawei and Google over issues with the Nexus 6P, which they ended up filing for after they began an investigation to look into bootloop issues with that device.
While the lawsuit over the Nexus 5X has now been dropped as Chimicles & Tikellis LLP filed for a voluntary dismissal of the case, there has been no mention of the case being dropped for the Nexus 6P. That said, a quick search on the C&T website for “Nexus 6P” brings up a notice of a report posted two days ago about a complaint that was filed over the bootloop, battery drain, and early shutoff issues with that device, so this is still ongoing though it is noted that the case is pending and has yet to move forward and go to court.
While this is good news for those who are customers of the LG Nexus 5X so long as they’re able to contact LG support to get the resolution they need, it should also be noted that Chimicles & Tikellis LLP is only one of the two law firms that had filed a lawsuit against LG for this problem. The first, which is Girard Gibbs LLP, seems to be continuing as you can still reach the case file about the lawsuit on their website. If you were one of the customers who owns a Nexus 5X and hasn’t gotten any assistance with the device problem, and you haven’t pursued any action per the case, it might be worth looking into as it may result in favorable outcome. It’s also recommended that customers contact LG support as that may be the best way for them to get assistance.
