The Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus flagships were announced two months ago, and they’re still in high demand, so it’s a bit weird to talk about the Galaxy S9 already, but a new rumor has just surfaced. According to this info provided by ‘The Bell’, which is a Korea-based publication, the Galaxy S9 is codenamed ‘Star’, and the development has already begun, 3 to 4 months ahead of schedule, which is quite surprising, read on.
It is also worth mentioning that the larger Galaxy S9 model is codenamed ‘Star 2’, as per the provided info, though we do not have any additional info about either of those two devices at the moment, well, aside from the fact both will ship with an all-new ‘Infinity Display’ by Samsung, but that was to be expected. The Galaxy S9 handsets are not expected to launch for another 10 months or so, so there’s still a long way to go, and we’ll see a ton of rumors and leaks by then, this is just some early info that surfaced, and it seems like Samsung is tackling the Galaxy S9 development process early. Before the Galaxy S9 arrives, we will see the next-gen ‘Galaxy Note’ flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 8, which is expected to launch in August. It is, of course, possible that the company will go with a different naming for the device, but that’s highly unlikely, despite the fact that the Galaxy Note 7 was a complete failure for the company last year.
Considering that there is not leaked info to share when it comes to the Galaxy S9, we can only guess what to expect. Well, an in-display fingerprint scanner is a given, it was, reportedly, supposed to be included in the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus, and it will, almost certainly, be a part of the Galaxy S9, maybe even the Galaxy Note 8. The Galaxy S9 will be fueled by Qualcomm’s 2018 Snapdragon flagship SoC, and an Exynos variant will probably be available as well. The device will probably pack in 6GB of RAM on the inside, though, as already mentioned, we’re only guessing, so take all this info with a grain of salt.
