Samsung Electronics is developing the Galaxy C10 that will be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming mid-range system-on-chip, the Snapdragon 660, according to latest industry rumors originating from China. One industry insider recently took to Twitter to claim that the Galaxy C10 will bear the model number SM-C9150 and sport a dual camera setup, presumably on its rear panel. While many original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have been commercializing dual camera mobile systems for a while now, Samsung has yet to follow suit, though the company admitted it has been experimenting with a dual-lens setup on the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. Regardless, the South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer is still sticking with single-lens camera systems, though recent reports indicate that may change in the near future.
No other information on the Galaxy C10 is currently available, though the model number revealed by the aforementioned industry insider suggests that the device in question may be a direct successor to the Galaxy C9 Pro that was officially introduced by Samsung back in November and became the first Galaxy-branded device to ship with 6GB of RAM. Seeing how the South Korean tech giant launched the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus less than a month ago and has already confirmed its intentions to introduce the Galaxy Note 8 in the second half of this year, it’s debatable whether the company will opt to release an improved version of a high-quality mid-ranger like the Galaxy C9 Pro in the West where the average customer is more willing to pay for a full-fledged flagship with a premium profit margin.
Regardless, more details about the upcoming device might follow soon seeing how its rumored SoC is scheduled to be unveiled by Qualcomm this week, and first smartphones powered by the San Diego-based firm’s latest piece of silicon will reportedly launch in the coming months. The Snapdragon 660 is said to feature an octa-core processor coupled with the Adreno 512 GPU and support for LPDDR4 RAM, as well as UFS 2.1. If Samsung is truly planning to release the Galaxy C10 later this year, the handset will almost certainly ship with some build of Android Nougat enhanced with the company’s proprietary launcher.
