Samsung has created a limited Pirates of The Caribbean Galaxy S8, and it looks as though the phone comes complete with a specially designed box that includes the phone itself, the standard Galaxy S8 packaging that you would get if you bought the regular model, and a couple of extras like the wireless charging dock and a themed Pirates of The Caribbean clip on case that is NFC-enabled and provides some smart features when placed on the phone. According to the details the case will connect to the Galaxy S8 through NFC and apply a special Pirates of The Caribbean theme to the phone, and on the backside of the case is harboring a special design with a giant skull in the middle, a skull and crossbones in the top right corner, and the Pirates of The Caribbean logo at the bottom.
The release of this special edition model of Samsung’s most recent flagship is said to be in celebration of the upcoming film release as part of a partnership with Disney, and will help promote the launch of Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which is the latest Pirates film in the popular franchise.
Rumors point to a possible June launch in China, and the cost of this special edition model is supposed to be about 300 Yuan more than the standard model, likely due to the special outer box and included extra accessories that come inside of it. While this is pegged for a launch in China, there is no word on if Samsung will launch this version of the flagship smartphone in the U.S. or other western countries, but if they don’t chances are that you will see some of them go up for sale on third-party sites. This also isn’t the first time that Samsung has partnered with a brand to release a special edition of their flagship device. Last year, they released a special edition Batman version of the Galaxy S7 Edge in partnership with Warner Bros., and the year before they launched a special edition Iron Man version of the Galaxy S6. For the aspiring pirate who dreams of sailing the high seas with a new smartphone in hand, this may be the device to pick up.
