Samsung is reportedly working on bringing its ‘Galaxy C’ series up to date with a couple of upcoming models currently referred to as the Samsung Galaxy C10 and Galaxy C10 Plus. Both devices were rumored to be on track for a market release before the end of 2017, and now more details on their potential features emerged through a handful of leaked images originating from industry sources in China. The photos show an alleged protective silicone case designed specifically for the Samsung Galaxy C10, and suggest that the smartphone will sport a dual-camera setup as well as a dedicated Bixby button.
Samsung has yet to adopt a dual-camera setup for any of its smartphones, but the company could finally make the switch with the release of the Samsung Galaxy C10; that is, at least judging by the leaked images at hand which seemingly showcase a Samsung Galaxy C10 protective case with a camera cutout large enough to accommodate two sensors. The company’s Galaxy C series is historically designed to compete with upper-mid-range smartphones in China, where numerous smartphone makers have already adopted dual-camera setups for their more recent models. Having said that, it’s not outlandish to consider that Samsung could finally make use of a dual-camera setup for a mid-range smartphone designed for the Chinese market.
Moving on to the second feature revealed by the leaked images at hand, it would appear that the Samsung Galaxy C10 (and presumably the Galaxy C10 Plus) will be equipped with a dedicated Bixby button, not unlike the Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship series. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise given that Samsung already confirmed its intentions to make Bixby available on other smartphones, but it could be that the Samsung Galaxy C10 series will become the first mid-range device to take advantage of the company’s new virtual assistant along with a dedicated physical key. As yet, this feature has been met with mixed feelings by Samsung Galaxy S8 owners, primarily due to the fact that the Bixby key cannot be remapped to other actions through official means. Nevertheless, there is potential for customization for users willing to dig deeper under the hood and repurpose the Bixby button using custom ROMs or other similar solutions, some of which could eventually be made available for the Samsung Galaxy C10 by the prolific developer community.
