Samsung Galaxy Feel With 4.7-Inch Screen Announced

Samsung Electronics on Friday launched the Galaxy Feel, its latest Android-powered smartphone boasting a 4.7-inch screen that’s relatively small compared to contemporary handset design standards. The device itself is a mid-range phone that was launched as an exclusive offering of NTT DoCoMo, the largest mobile service provider in Japan. It’s currently unclear whether the Galaxy Feel will be picked up by more wireless carriers in the Far Eastern country in the future and if the handset will make its way to additional markets going forward.

The Galaxy Feel is powered by a 64-bit system-on-chip (SoC) that’s likely one of Samsung’s Exynos-branded chipsets, though the South Korean tech giant has yet to disclose which particular piece of silicon is integrated into its new mid-range handset. NTT DoCoMo’s listing of the phone reveals that its SoC sports eight cores clocked at a maximum frequency of 1.6GHz, but doesn’t reveal more details on the matter. The device ships with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal flash memory that’s expandable by up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. The main camera setup of the Galaxy Feel consists of a 16-megapixel lens located on the rear panel of the smartphone, while its top bezel houses a 5-megapixel sensor. The relatively small display panel of the device boasts a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels and is protected by 2.5D glass. The compact case of the Galaxy Feel is 67 x 138 x 8.3mm in size and weighs under 150g. Samsung’s latest mid-ranger runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, likely enhanced with the company’s proprietary software suite. The device ships with a 3,000mAh battery that isn’t removable, presumably because the phone is resistant to dust and water, something that isn’t easy to achieve when designing a handset with a removable battery.

The Galaxy Feel will be available for purchase in Indigo Black, Moon White, and Opal Pink, though NTT DoCoMo has yet to reveal its official price tag and a firm release date. For know, the telecom giant said that Samsung’s new phone will be hitting the market around the middle of next month, so more details on the device should be available shortly.
