The Xperia XZ Premium is still not available for purchase, but the device has just surfaced on Geekbench, showing off sheer power of the Snapdragon 835 SoC. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium managed to score 1,943 points in the single-core benchmark, while the device hit 5,824 points in the multi-core test. Now, these are some impressive results, but are still somewhat below Galaxy S8’s level, as Samsung’s flagship (Snapdragon 835 model) crossed over the 6,000-point threshold in the multi-core test.
Now, it is possible Sony optimized their device to run more efficiently with the Snapdragon 835, or something of the sort (maybe they tweaked the SoC a bit), as the SoC is running at 1,9GHz, according to Geekbench. In any case, the Xperia XZ Premium was introduced back in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and the company is taking its sweet time to release this smartphone. The device will go on sale next month, even though this was supposed to be the first Snapdragon 835-powered smartphone to hit the market, but that did not happen, obviously. The Xperia XZ Premium comes with Sony’s well-known design, its bezels above and below the display are a bit thick for today’s standards, but the phone basically has no bezels on the sides, aside from the phone’s frame. Aside from the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, this phone also packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage.
The Xperia XZ Premium sports a 3,230mAh non-removable battery, while it comes with a 19-megapixel rear-facing camera (Sony’s IMX400 sensor). A 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the front side of this smartphone, and Android 7.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on the device, along with Sony’s custom UI. The device also packs in a 5.46-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) display, and the device comes with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. Sony had announced that this handset will become available in both single SIM and dual SIM variants, and their availability will be market dependent, of course.
